We are teaming up with Hannah Alyssa for today’s blog post to share some styling tips for your engagement session with your photographer! Your e-session is the perfect opportunity to connect before the wedding day so you feel at ease in front of the camera resulting in even more beautiful and authentic wedding photographs. Here are her top 3 tips:
1. Location: Choose a location that is special or sentimental to you as a couple-one that prompts dear memories, inspires you, or makes you fall deeper in love. Another tip is to think of an activity that you like to do together. Rent bicycles and cruise through the historic streets of Charleston or set sail in the harbor!
2. Style: An elevated, classic, and coordinated wardrobe provides the opportunity to express your personalities through your engagement session while bringing the editorial look you’ve been dreaming of to your photographs. Flowing fabrics and soft colors like cream, taupe, and dusty blue photograph beautifully. Don’t try to match and wear the exact same color as the groom. Instead, pick outfits and colors that coordinate. And ladies, don’t forget your nails! Nude colors and light pink hues tend to be best and non-distracting.
3. Hair + Makeup: If possible, book a hair and makeup appointment for your engagement session. This is a wonderful opportunity to have a trial with your wedding day hair and makeup artists. Having your hair and makeup done professionally will give you an extra boost of confidence which will come across in photos! A professional artist also knows the right amount of makeup to use to show up best on camera, while still keeping a more natural look but enhancing your best features.
