Being asked to be in the wedding party is a huge honor and means you have a significant role in the couples life and relationship. A bridal party on the wedding day can have a huge impact on how the entire day goes. While the day is ultimately about the bride and groom, the bridesmaids (and groomsmen) are a big part of how the day unfolds. Today we are giving some advice on how to be the best bridesmaid, ever!
-Ask the bride what she needs help with: This might sound obvious, but often times, brides don’t want to ask for help! If you reach out, there is likely something she could have you do and take off her long list of to-do’s.
-Print a timeline: Be sure you are in the know of what is happening and when! It is so important for things to stay on time, so be aware of when you need to arrive to the venue for hair and makeup, when you need to be dressed and photo-ready, etc.
-Make sure to eat! While mimosas are certainly part of the celebration, don’t overindulge. Be sure to eat and ask the bride if you can get her anything, as eating can easily be forgotten with all of the nerves and excitement.
-Be organized: Try to keep your ‘things’ to a minimum, and keep everything in one bag, so it will be easy to grab at the end of the night. Our advice: pack up all of your things before pictures start, so at the end of the night, all you have to do is grab your tote and head to the after party! Trust us on this one.
-Try your dress on in advance: Be sure to try on your dress well in advance to make sure it fits and is hemmed properly. Waiting until the last minute, resulting in a wardrobe malfunction, is something the bride doesn’t need to be stressed about on the wedding day. Also, make sure you have arranged for it to be steamed, wrinkles are not a good look.
-Be positive: No matter the circumstances, be positive and calm! There can be many unforeseen events that happen during the day that are out of the brides control, and she is going to look to you for encouragement, and that everything is going to be okay! For example, if it is raining, or hot, or buggy, don’t complain. If something went missing or went wrong, do your best to keep the peace or resolve the situation without bringing the issue to the brides attention. Your attitude has more of an impact than you think! Your main job is to keep the bride stress-free and happy!
Most importantly, HAVE FUN! 🙂
